The case trips the surcharge
A bass or keyboard case runs past the 48-inch Additional Handling line, and a combo amp passes the 50 lb weight trigger — so the surcharge lands before base shipping is even counted.
Packing costs real money
Doing it right means double-boxing, suspension padding, and detuned strings — an hour of work and real material cost per sale, or a pro packing bill on top.
One drop ends the sale
A cracked headstock in transit means a return, a claim fight over 'insufficient packaging', and a refund. Conveyor belts don't care that it's a '62 reissue.
